Using Sat Nav -
From Wivelsfield Green: The centre of the postcode is about 400 metres towards Wivelsfield Green from our property. If you are coming from Ditchling/Wivelsfield Green direction, the sat nav will stop you at the house before ours. Keep driving, past Chippinge House on the left, around a left hand bend and up a small hill with slow down signs - we are on the top of the little hill on the bend - there is a gravel track with big willow tree and 5 bar gate - turn sharp left! If you get to the cattlegrid to the Common then you have missed Hoods Croft and gone too far.
From the A272: Cross the Common towards Wivelsfield Green (St. Peter’s Hospice) and when you exit the second cattlegrid keep right. Don’t fork off on Plumpton Road. We are the second driveway on right.
The driveway is signposted HOODS CROFT.
-
As you come down the drive at Hoods Croft, turn immediately to the left where there is a parking area in front of the Coach House and Barn.
-
We have a 7kWh Easee EV charging point at the house which we bill at 30p / kWh for units used. Please let us know if you intend to use it prior to your stay, as by default the charger is off and it will need to be activated for your use.

Train: We are on the London to Brighton line and our nearest stations are Burgess Hill and Haywards Heath (both 12 mins drive). Haywards Heath is better served for London trains.
Taxis: If coming by train into Haywards Heath or Burgess Hill stations, there is a good taxi rank with no need to pre-book, although it is wise to book the return journey to the station. Evening and weekend taxis from Hoods Croft should be pre-booked. Ubers cannot always be booked from the property, although it is quite easy to get one back to here from Brighton (even in the early hours!).

For children, there is the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital in the same building in Brighton where you should get seen earlier than at the Princess Royal.
There are excellent minor injury units in both Lewes and Uckfield that have significantly lower wait times than the large A&E Hospitals, but it does depend on what you require help for. They both have X-ray units (not 24 hours).

There is a newsagents/Post Office (Londis) in Wivelsfield Green Village. On the road from Wivelsfield Green towards Ditchling there is a garage with a Morrisons which is open 6am-10pm (Sunday opens at 7am). In North Chailey the garage shop is 24 hours. In Plumpton Village there is a good village shop with Cook products.

There is a good selection of local restaurants, and some will do takeaways, but unfortunately no delivery services – we are quite remote!
In Haywards Heath on the Broadway there is Zizzi, Pizza Express, Cote, Thai Crystal and a number of fun wine bars.
There are many amazing restaurants in Brighton – our favourites are Burnt Orange, Flint House, The Coal Shed, Salt Rooms, The Ivy Brasserie, Ivy Asia, Riddle & Finns, 64 Degrees, and The Giggling Squid…and in Hove, The Ginger Pig and Rockwater.
You can find our personal favourite selection of restaurants and pubs on the Local Area section.
