Renovation of historical outbuildings to provide your luxury retreat at Hoods Croft
Hoods Croft has existed as an agricultural small holding alongside the common land of Chailey Common for at least 400 years. The main house has been built around a small cottage dating from the 17th century.
Close to woodland, many years ago the house was known also known as Woods Croft, however Wood in the Sussex dialect is pronounced with an H, so the house became Hoods Croft.
Eddie and Sophie Marshall took on the property in 2013, and have brought up their family there since then. When COVID struck, they decided to stop working in London and started to develop the outbuildings at Hoods Croft.
Eddie trained as a furniture maker at a local school in Wivelsfield Green and initially developed the old Dutch hay barn as a studio and workshop. Next Eddie and Sophie renovated the old Coach House next door, and together these buildings are now available as holiday lets.
Eddie has fitted both buildings with his own cabinetry and uses the Barn to photograph individual pieces of furniture. Some of his furniture is also used in the buildings.
